21:25 “‘As for you, profane and wicked prince of Israel, ¹ 

whose day has come, the time of final punishment,

22:28 Her prophets coat their messages with whitewash. ²  They see false visions and announce lying omens for them, saying, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says,’ when the Lord has not spoken.

Yehezkiel 35:5

35:5 “‘You have shown unrelenting hostility and poured the people of Israel onto the blades of a sword ³  at the time of their calamity, at the time of their final punishment.

[21:25]  ¹ tn This probably refers to King Zedekiah.

[22:28]  ² tn Heb “her prophets coat for themselves with whitewash.” The expression may be based on Ezek 13:10-15.

[35:5]  ³ tn Or “gave over…to the power of the sword.” This phrase also occurs in Jer 18:21 and Ps 63:10.
